A mini dirt bike is a small-frame dirt bike, usually 50cc to 125cc, built for kids, teens and shorter adults. There is no official size rule, so ignore the word “mini” and fit the bike by front wheel size and seat height. Our mini dirt bikes start at $449.
What is a mini dirt bike?
Nobody certifies the term. A maker can call a 70cc bike with a 25-inch seat “mini” and a 125cc bike with a 34-inch seat “mini” in the same lineup, and both are telling the truth. In practice the word means a dirt bike scaled below full size: smaller wheels, a lower seat, and an engine that tops out around 125cc.
It also gets mixed up with two neighbors. A pit bike is the same idea, a small, light off-road motorcycle, and the two names overlap heavily. A mini bike is something else: a low, frame-and-seat machine, often with a torque converter, like the TrailMaster MB200. We untangle all three in our mini bike vs pit bike vs dirt bike guide.
Mini dirt bike sizes: engine, wheel and seat height
Engine size is the number everyone searches for, and it is the least useful number for fit. Look at the 107cc bikes below. The TM15 sits at 24.2 inches. The RPS 110S, same displacement, sits at 31.5. Those are two different bikes for two different riders.

Read the table by wheel size. A 10-inch front wheel, as on the TM10, TM11 and the Apollo DB-21 and DB-25, is the true small-kid platform. A 12-inch wheel is the middle step. A 14-inch wheel and up is where “mini” starts to stop meaning small, and a 17-inch wheel with a 34-inch seat, like the Thunder T20, is a compact adult bike wearing a youth label.
Which mini dirt bike fits a 10-year-old, a teen or an adult?
Age is a convention, not a rule. Two 10-year-olds can be a head apart in height, so check the seat.
- •Youngest riders, first bike: a 60cc to 70cc automatic with a seat around 22 to 25 inches. The TM06 ships with removable training wheels, which is the only reason to pick it over a 70cc.
- •Roughly 8 to 11: a 107cc to 110cc automatic or semi-auto on a 10 or 12-inch front wheel, seat near 25 inches. Start with an automatic. No clutch lever means one fewer thing to learn.
- •Bigger kids and teens: 110cc to 125cc on a 14-inch front wheel, seat from about 29 to 33 inches. This is where a semi-auto 4-speed makes sense, because the rider can learn shifting without a clutch lever.
- •Adults: a mini dirt bike works for a short or light adult who wants a small, easy trail bike, not for a tall rider. For that, look at 17-inch wheels and seats over 32 inches, or step up to a full-size bike.
The test we give on the phone: the rider sits on the bike and both feet should reach the ground, at least on the balls of the feet. If they are on tiptoe, the bike is too tall, whatever the age on the box says. If you want the seat-height detail for the next size up, read how tall a 125cc dirt bike really is.
How much does a mini dirt bike cost?
In the current table, 60cc and 70cc bikes run $449 to $649. The 107cc and 110cc class starts at $649. The 124cc and 125cc bikes start at $779.

What arrives in the crate
Expect a crate, not a finished bike. Plan on fitting the handlebars and front wheel and filling the engine oil before the first start, and follow the manual for your model. If you are comfortable with a socket set, it is an afternoon. If not, many of our listings come with an assembly option; browse them in bikes with assembly available. Our warehouse is in Garland, TX, and the team at 877-667-6289 will tell you straight if a bike is the wrong size for your rider.
Two details worth reading in the listing title. “Speed Governor” means the bike has a built-in limiter on top speed, which is handy for a new rider. “Off Road Only” means exactly that: these are trail and backyard bikes, not road vehicles. If road use is what you are after, read what makes a dirt bike street legal first.
Where to browse
Start with the size that fits the rider. 60cc and 70cc dirt bikes cover the youngest riders. 110cc and 125cc dirt bikes cover older kids and teens. The wider youth dirt bike range and dirt bikes and pit bikes collections hold the rest.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a mini dirt bike cost?
Current Motobuys listings start at $449 for a 60cc kids bike. 70cc bikes run up to $649, 107cc to 110cc youth bikes start at $649, and 124cc to 125cc bikes at $779. Check the table above for live prices.
Mini dirt bikes for 10 year olds: which size fits?
Most 10-year-olds do well on a 107cc to 110cc automatic with a 10 or 12-inch front wheel and a seat near 25 inches. Taller 10-year-olds can handle a 14-inch wheel. Check that both feet reach the ground before you buy.
Mini dirt bikes for adults: do they exist?
Yes, with limits. A short or light adult can ride a 125cc bike with a 17-inch front wheel, such as the Apollo Thunder T20 at a 34-inch seat height. Taller riders are better off on a full-size bike.
Mini bike vs dirt bike: what is the difference?
A dirt bike has a motorcycle frame, suspension and a standing riding position. A mini bike is a low, simple machine, often with a torque converter and no clutch. They are different vehicles for different jobs.
Is a 125cc mini dirt bike still a mini?
Only by name. Several 125cc bikes in the table have 17-inch front wheels and seats above 32 inches, which is adult-compact territory. A 125cc with a 14-inch wheel and a 29-inch seat is the true youth version.
50cc mini dirt bike: is it big enough?
A 50cc is for the very smallest riders. The smallest bike in our table is the 60cc TM06, with a 22-inch seat and removable training wheels. Kids outgrow that class quickly, so look at 70cc to 107cc if the rider is already confident on two wheels.
